Greetings! ¡Saludos!

The National Council of Hispano Deaf and Hard of Hearing – Fray Ponce de Leon wants to extend a warm invitation to our first National Conference, October 4-6, 2007.  The Conference will be at the Gallaudet University Kellogg Conference Center is Washington, D.C.

The theme of the conference is “SER”.  SER, in Spanish, has many, many meanings.  For our conference we want to emphasize it means: to be, to be worth, being, essence, because our conference will highlight what Hispano deaf and hard of hearing are and what they can be!!

Fray Ponce de Leon was the world’s first recognized educator of the deaf.  As a Hispano he is our namesake.  Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet is the namesake of Gallaudet University.

Our National Conference will include a large variety of presenters, panels and workshops on many topics of interest for everyone.  Persons interested in making a presentation or participating in another such activity should contact Mrs. Marta Ordaz at proposal@ldhhamdc.org

We are planning several fun social events and will provide inexpensive day care.  Too, lower cost housing is being planned at Gallaudet University.  It will be a wonderful Conference!

Along with the theme, the National Conference is truly, intended to bring us all together!  We need to unite to be effective!

See you in D.C. in October!

¡Bienvenidos!

¡Nos vemos!
